About the Role

Pure Staff are currently recruiting for a Yard Operative based in the Selby, York area. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on, physical work and is comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. You'll be joining a friendly, hardworking team with the opportunity to secure a permanent position.

Main Duties of A Yard Operative

  • Sorting recyclable materials such as metal, plastic, and wood (no food waste)
  • Working on a picking line, separating materials into designated chutes
  • Carrying out general yard duties
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised working environment
  • Supporting team members to ensure efficient waste processing

This role is primarily outdoors, so you must be prepared to work in varying weather conditions including rain, cold, heat, and wind.

Requirements

  • Reliable, hardworking, and willing to get stuck in
  • Comfortable with manual labour and physically demanding tasks
  • Able and willing to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
  • Must have own transport (site not accessible by public transport)
  • No previous experience required - full training provided

Shifts & Overtime

Monday to Friday: 8:00am - 5:00pm (1-hour unpaid break)

Occasional Saturday overtime (approximately one per month)
