To carry out quality control inspections and monitoring of citrus and grape consignments, ensuring all products meet Group and customer requirements. This includes intake checks, stock monitoring, packing line oversight, and positive release, while maintaining accurate documentation and supporting compliance with food safety and retailer standards.
Responsibilities
- Inspect inbound fruit against specifications, logging accurate results.
- Take photographs of arrivals (box end details and issues), upload, and send to customers on day of arrival.
- Complete arrival reports accurately and on time.
- Ensure all documentation meets Group and customer compliance standards.
- Monitor stock condition, temperature protocols, and shelf-life samples.
- Record findings accurately and elevate issues promptly.
- Oversee packing operations, ensuring products meet customer and retailer specifications.
- Complete packhouse line sheets and weight checks accurately.
- Authorise positive release only when all checks are satisfactory.
- Assist with product trials, shelf-life testing, and packaging evaluations.
- Motivate colleagues to maintain company quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
- Support other duties as required within the QC department.
Working Hours: 4 days on / 4 days off, 12-hour shifts (07:00-19:00 and/or 19:00-07:00)
Specification
- HACCP awareness or food safety training.
- Previous experience in QC, intake, or stock handling within fresh produce.
- Citrus and/or grape-specific experience.
- Strong attention to detail and consistency in applying standards.
- Good administrative and organisational skills.
- IT literacy: Word, Excel, data entry, and bespoke QC systems.
- Knowledge of intake, stock, packing, and release procedures.
- Ability to develop and improve QC spreadsheets and records.
- Self-motivated, proactive and reliable.
- Methodical thinker with problem-solving ability.
- Flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
