Due to their excellent reputation and a continued increase in their workload, a key client of mine is looking to recruit a Mechanical Site Supervisor on a full-time, permanent basis.

Location: Various sites across the West Midlands, occasionally further afield

Salary: £50-55K pa + Bonus + Benefits Package

Overview

An established contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Site Supervisor to oversee the delivery of mechanical installations across multiple UK project sites. This is a hands‑on site leadership role, responsible for ensuring mechanical works are delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard of quality. You will coordinate site activities, manage subcontractors and labour, and act as a key point of contact between the project team and the client.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Supervision & Delivery
    • Oversee and coordinate all mechanical site activities to ensure efficient project delivery
    • Plan and manage labour, subcontractors, plant, and materials
    • Ensure works are carried out in line with drawings, specifications, and industry standards
    • Monitor programme progress and report any delays, changes, or risks to the Project Manager
    • Attend site meetings and provide clear progress updates
    • Act as the day‑to‑day site contact for the client and project team
  • Health, Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure full compliance with health & safety legislation and site procedures
    • Carry out risk assessments and ensure RAMS are followed
    • Enforce company and industry safety standards on site
    • Report, investigate, and resolve incidents, near misses, or safety concerns
    • Communicate any process or safety changes to the wider project team
  • Quality & Technical Oversight
    • Monitor workmanship quality through benchmarks, inspections, and QA processes
    • Identify and resolve technical issues promptly
    • Ensure installations meet project and client quality requirements
    • Support testing and commissioning activities where required
  • Team & Stakeholder Management
    • Supervise site teams, ensuring clear communication and task allocation
    • Liaise with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to maintain smooth delivery
    • Support, train, and mentor junior staff and apprentices
  • Materials, Documentation & Reporting
    • Manage site deliveries of materials, plant, and free‑issue items in line with contractual and internal procedures
    • Highlight long‑lead items and procurement risks to the Project Manager
    • Maintain accurate site records, diaries, and daily reports
    • Ensure operatives are working to the latest drawings and documentation
    • Assist with handover documentation including QA records, testing certificates, red‑line drawings, and O&M manuals
    • Provide feedback on labour, supplier, and subcontractor performance

  • Projects delivered on or ahead of programme
  • Strong health & safety record with no reportable incidents
  • High‑quality installations with all QA and testing completed and signed off
  • Efficient material and cost control with proactive planning
  • Accurate, timely site reporting and documentation
  • Positive working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience supervising mechanical installations on construction or building services projects
  • SSSTS & CSCS (Red Supervisor Card at a minimum)
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and site practices
  • Solid understanding of UK health & safety regulations
  • Confident managing subcontractors, labour, and site logistics
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Willingness to travel to sites across the UK
