An established UK mechanical contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Site Manager to take full responsibility for the delivery of mechanical works on a single live project. This is a senior on-site role, acting as the principal mechanical lead and day-to-day decision-maker, bridging the gap between Site Supervision and Project Management. You will be accountable for safe delivery, programme control, quality, coordination and on-site client interface.
The Role
- Site Management & Programme: Full day-to-day management of mechanical works on a single project site; Planning and coordinating activities in line with the agreed programme; Producing short-term lookaheads and managing daily/weekly site coordination; Monitoring progress, identifying risks and escalating constraints where required; Coordinating labour, subcontractors, materials and plant.
- Health, Safety & Compliance: Acting as the on-site lead for health & safety; Ensuring compliance with CDM, statutory requirements and site procedures; Managing RAMS, COSHH, permits, inductions and toolbox talks; Carrying out inspections, audits and closing out actions; Investigating and reporting incidents and near misses.
- Quality & Technical Delivery: Ensuring installations meet drawings, specifications and approved submissions; Managing QA inspections, benchmarks and testing; Supporting technical problem-solving and interface coordination; Managing snagging, defects and final quality close-out; Ensuring red-line drawings, QA records and certification are completed.
- Commercial Awareness: Monitoring labour, plant and material usage against allowances; Maintaining productivity and cost awareness on site; Identifying and reporting variations or scope changes; Supporting valuations through accurate progress reporting; Avoiding unplanned procurement outside agreed scope.
- Leadership & Stakeholder Management: Leading site supervisors, operatives and subcontractors; Acting as the main on-site point of contact for client and consultants; Maintaining high standards of professionalism and site presentation; Promoting a positive safety, quality and delivery-focused culture.
- Logistics & Reporting: Managing site logistics, deliveries and material control; Escalating long-lead or procurement risks; Maintaining site diaries, progress reports and records; Supporting handover documentation and O&M manuals.
Experience & Requirements
- Essential: Proven experience as a Mechanical Site Manager, Senior Supervisor or similar; Strong background in mechanical services installations; Good working knowledge of UK health & safety legislation and CDM; Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications; Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills; SMSTS.
- Desirable: CSCS (Management level); First Aid at Work; Experience on commercial and/or industrial projects.
