Pure Staff’s Driving Team are recruiting HGV Class 1 Drivers in Avonmouth to work with one of the UK’s largest and longest-established logistics businesses, completing trunking and store deliveries for a major national retail contract. This is consistent Class 1 work with afternoon start times between 12:00 and 16:00 and shifts averaging approximately 10 hours. The work consists of a mixture of trunking and retail store deliveries with no handball involved. There is also consistent weekend work available for drivers who want it, meaning we can accommodate drivers who would prefer to work weekends and take days off during the week.

Rates for a HGV Class 1 Driver:

  • Monday to Friday: £16.50ph + £17.50 daily shift allowance (equivalent to £18.25ph)
  • Saturday: £21.00ph
  • Sunday & Bank Holidays: £22.34ph

Weekend work is optional, but shifts are available relatively consistently for drivers who want additional work or would prefer their regular days off to fall during the week. Holiday pay is accrued separately and paid when you take annual leave. You’ll be paid weekly, every Thursday night / Friday morning, directly through Pure Staff’s in-house PAYE payroll.

Your Typical Working Day:

  • Afternoon starts between 12:00 and 16:00
  • Shifts averaging approximately 10 hours
  • Mixture of HGV Class 1 trunking and store deliveries
  • Delivering into retail locations
  • No handball
  • Strapping and securing all loads
  • Checking loads thoroughly before leaving the loading bay
  • Ensuring trailers and loads are correctly contained and safe before moving off
  • Consistent weekday work
  • Optional weekend shifts available

Load security is a critical requirement of this assignment. Drivers must correctly strap and contain their loads and complete all necessary checks before moving off the bay or taking a trailer. Failure to follow the site’s load-security procedures may result in immediate removal from the assignment.

Flexible Working Patterns:

Although there is consistent Monday-to-Friday work available, you don’t necessarily have to work a traditional Monday-to-Friday pattern. Weekend shifts are optional but are available quite consistently, with enhanced rates of £21.00ph on Saturdays and £22.34ph on Sundays and Bank Holidays. This means the assignment can also suit drivers who prefer to work Saturday and/or Sunday and take one or two days off during the week.

About the Customer:

You’ll be working with a major UK logistics business with a history stretching back more than 100 years. Today, the wider business operates a nationwide network of transport depots and warehouses and provides logistics solutions for hundreds of businesses across sectors including retail, food and drink, manufacturing and specialist transport. This is a professional, established transport operation where driver safety, compliance and load security are taken seriously.
