We're currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join a growing and well-established mechanical services contractor. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to play a key role within a pre-construction team, supporting the delivery of high-quality mechanical projects across a varied portfolio.
The Opportunity
Reporting into the Pre-Construction Manager, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical installations, maintenance, and repair works. You'll work closely with internal teams as well as external suppliers and subcontractors to ensure commercially viable and technically sound submissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed and accurate estimates based on tender documentation and project specifications
- Analyse labour, materials, and market trends to ensure competitive pricing
- Identify and incorporate project risks, ensuring appropriate allowances are included
- Source and negotiate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
- Prepare clear cost breakdowns, programmes, and supporting documentation
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather technical and commercial information
- Support bid reviews and assist in the finalisation of tender submissions
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in estimating processes and systems
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in a Mechanical Estimator role (or similar) within construction or building services
- Strong understanding of mechanical installations and industry standards
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet tight deadlines independently
