An established and growing mechanical services contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join its expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to lead the successful delivery of mechanical building services projects across a range of sectors throughout the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects from initial planning through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management
- Manage the full lifecycle of mechanical services projects from inception through to handover.
- Develop and maintain detailed project programmes, resource plans and procurement schedules.
- Coordinate labour, materials and subcontractors to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Work closely with site management teams to monitor progress and maintain programme targets.
- Identify project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Produce regular progress reports and project documentation.
- Present project updates during internal project review meetings.
- Technical & Quality
- Oversee the installation of HVAC, plumbing and associated mechanical building services.
- Ensure all installations meet current industry standards, specifications and regulations.
- Develop and manage quality assurance plans, inspection schedules and testing programmes.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor quality, compliance and progress.
- Prepare and submit technical documentation for client approval.
- Resolve technical issues efficiently to minimise project disruption.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, including CDM Regulations.
- Commercial & Financial
- Manage project budgets to maximise profitability.
- Monitor project costs and identify opportunities for efficiencies and cost savings.
- Work closely with procurement teams to secure best value for materials and equipment.
- Ensure accurate forecasting, valuations and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
- Leadership & Communication
- Lead and support project teams, including Site Supervisors, engineers, operatives and subcontractors.
- Maintain clear communication across all project stakeholders.
- Support the development of team members through coaching and mentoring.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing working environment.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience managing mechanical building services projects.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and mechanical installations.
- Excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Sound commercial awareness and budget management experience.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across the UK.
