We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Manager to play a pivotal role in overseeing the company's financial operations. This is a hands-on position where you will take day-to-day ownership of all financial processing, including financial reporting, bookkeeping, payroll, and ensuring compliance with relevant tax regulations (including CIS). You will work independently, while also providing key insights to senior management and contributing to the company's financial strategy. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management & Reporting: Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for senior management. Ensure all financials are accurate and closed by the 10th of each month, with final reports ready for presentation by the 12th. Conduct variance analyses to highlight discrepancies between actuals and budgets. Ensure full compliance with tax regulations (VAT, CIS, etc.) in financial reporting.
- Bookkeeping & Accounting: Maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records in line with accounting standards. Process invoices, receipts, and payments in a timely manner. Reconcile bank statements and resolve any discrepancies. Ensure proper filing of financial documents, including contracts and invoices.
- CIS & Subcontractor Payments: Ensure full compliance with the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) for subcontractor payments. Process subcontractor invoices and timesheets, ensuring accurate and timely payments. Submit monthly CIS returns to HMRC and provide payment statements to subcontractors. Resolve payment queries and ensure HMRC payments are made on time.
- Payroll & Expense Management: Oversee payroll processing to ensure accurate and timely payments to employees and statutory bodies. Process subcontractor payments in line with CIS requirements. Manage the expense claim process using relevant software.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Financial Reporting Accuracy & Timeliness: 100% accuracy in financial reporting. Close all financials by the 10th of each month and submit final reports by the 12th.
- Bookkeeping & CIS Compliance: Maintain zero discrepancies in financial records. Achieve 100% CIS compliance, including timely HMRC submissions and accurate tax deductions.
- Cash Flow Management: No overdue payables or delays in receivables beyond 14 days.
- Compliance: File all statutory returns (taxes, CIS, payroll) on or before deadlines. Zero non-compliance issues during audits.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualifications: A relevant accounting qualification (e.g., AAT or similar) is desirable.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a similar finance role. Strong understanding of purchase ledger, cash allocation, and reconciliation. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Xero).
