The Role
As VAT Manager, you will take ownership of a broad portfolio of VAT matters across the group, working closely with key stakeholders and leading projects end-to-end. Over time, the position offers scope to expand into other areas of indirect tax.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering high-quality VAT advice across the business, including complex areas such as property, partial exemption, and place of supply
- Supporting the preparation of group VAT returns, with direct responsibility for specific entities
- Leading VAT-related projects and driving ongoing improvements to processes, systems, and controls
- Acting as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, building strong and collaborative relationships
- Assisting with other indirect tax matters, including Customs Duties, CCL and CBAM (experience beneficial but not essential)
About You
You will be an experienced VAT professional who is comfortable working autonomously, managing projects, and influencing a range of stakeholders across the business.
You will ideally have:
- Strong technical VAT expertise, including exposure to property, partial exemption, and place of supply
- Experience operating at manager level, either within practice or in-house
- A proactive mindset with the ability to take ownership and shape the role
- Excellent communication skills, with confidence engaging both technical and non-technical audiences
- Exposure to other indirect taxes (e.g. Customs, CCL, CBAM), or a genuine interest in developing in these areas
