An opportunity with a globally recognised financial services organisation for a senior VAT professional to take full ownership of the indirect tax function. This is a standalone VAT leadership role, responsible for the end-to-end management of VAT across the UK and Europe, spanning both compliance and advisory. The position offers autonomy, visibility, and the chance to shape VAT strategy, controls, and processes within a complex, multinational environment. While primarily VAT-focused, the role also provides exposure to broader corporate tax matters.

Key responsibilities:

  • Own and lead all aspects of UK VAT, including compliance, partial exemption methodology, and reporting
  • Provide strategic VAT advisory support to senior stakeholders across the business
  • Oversee European VAT compliance and manage external advisors
  • Ensure robust controls, governance, and risk management frameworks are in place
  • Drive process optimisation, systems enhancements, and efficiencies across the tax function
  • Act as the senior point of contact for VAT, including engagement with tax authorities where required

  • Qualified (ACA / ACCA / CTA or equivalent)
