An established real estate investment business is looking to appoint a Senior Tax Manager to join its in-house tax team in London.
This is a broad and commercially focused role with primary responsibility for supporting real estate transactions and fund structuring across Europe. Working closely with investment, legal, finance and fund teams, the successful candidate will provide tax advice throughout the investment lifecycle, from initial structuring and acquisition through to refinancing, restructuring and exit.
The role would suit an experienced real estate tax professional looking to move into, or develop further within, an in-house environment where they can work closely with deal teams and have direct exposure to investment activity across multiple European jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tax advice on pan-European real estate acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, refinancings and restructurings.
- Lead the tax workstream on transactions, including reviewing structures, identifying key tax risks and coordinating external tax due diligence.
- Advise on the structuring and establishment of real estate funds, investment vehicles and holding structures.
- Work closely with Investment, Legal, Finance and Fund Management teams to develop commercially appropriate tax structures for new investments.
- Assess the tax implications of proposed transactions across different European jurisdictions, working with local advisers where required.
- Review and challenge tax structuring advice received from external counsel and advisers.
- Support negotiations and review transaction documentation from a tax perspective.
- Advise on the ongoing tax implications of existing investment and fund structures, including restructurings and changes to financing arrangements.
- Monitor relevant developments in UK, European and international tax legislation and assess the impact on funds and underlying investments.
- Support wider strategic tax projects affecting the real estate platform and investment structures.
- Build strong relationships with senior internal stakeholders and act as a key point of contact for tax matters relating to transactions and structuring.
- Manage and coordinate relationships with external advisers across multiple European jurisdictions.
- Provide support and technical guidance to more junior members of the tax team where appropriate.
