The Operational Risk Manager will play a critical role in protecting and enabling this bank’s London business by strengthening the effective execution of the Operational Risk Management Framework across Capital Markets operations. The role supports day‑to‑day operational risk oversight by working closely with front‑office, operations, technology, and support functions. The position adds value by translating operational activity into clear, actionable risk insight, enabling senior management to make informed decisions and proactively manage risk.
Key responsibilities:
- Proactively identify, assess, and escalate emerging operational risks across London operations
- Deliver high‑quality reporting to senior management committees
- Support calibration of operational risk metrics and KRIs used by Risk Committees and Boards
- Review and challenge First Line execution of core framework components
- Provide constructive challenge while maintaining strong, collaborative relationships
- Act as a trusted operational risk advisor to senior stakeholders across the business
- Support the promotion of a strong and pragmatic risk culture across the business
Knowledge & Experience:
- Strong operational background, ideally across multiple Capital Markets products, workflows, or infrastructure functions
- Sound understanding of the Three Lines of Defence model within a Capital Markets environment
- Awareness of broader risk disciplines (Credit, Market, Liquidity) and their interaction with operational risk
- Familiarity with the UK operational risk regulatory environment and emerging supervisory expectations
Skills & Capabilities:
- Strong ability to analyse operational processes and identify control and risk gaps
- Confident and credible communicator with stakeholders at all levels of seniority
- Clear, concise written communication, particularly for senior management reporting
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, both independently and collaboratively
