We are seeking a practical, hands-on VAT Compliance Specialist to join a leading financial services organisation based in Central London, operating on a hybrid basis (3 days in the office, 2 days remote). This is an excellent opportunity for a VAT professional who enjoys owning processes, improving efficiency, and working closely with finance teams, with a strong emphasis on VAT compliance and process enhancement.

The Role

This position is heavily focused on VAT compliance (60–70%), with responsibilities centred around ensuring accurate, timely reporting and driving improvements in existing processes.

  • Prepare and review VAT returns, ensuring accuracy and on-time submission
  • Extract, manipulate, and reconcile data from the ERP system
  • Work closely with Finance and Accounts Payable teams to ensure correct VAT treatment
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce risk
  • Support VAT reporting controls and documentation
  • Contribute to a broader mixed tax remit, including corporation tax compliance and provisioning (secondary to VAT focus)

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in VAT compliance (essential)
  • Strong Excel skills (data handling, reconciliation, analysis)
  • Familiarity with Tax Technology / ERP systems and working with large data sets
  • Ability to extract and manipulate data to produce accurate VAT returns
