Pure Search are currently partnered with a high growth energy business, currently involved in one of the most interesting projects in the UK. They are seeking an experienced Expatriate & Employment Tax Senior Manager to take ownership of complex tax matters across a large and evolving workforce.
The Opportunity
You will play a central role in shaping how employment and expatriate tax is managed across a newly independent organisation with international reach. This is a high‑profile position offering visibility, autonomy and the chance to influence tax governance at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Subject matter expert for all employment and expatriate tax matters across the business.
- Manage PAYE compliance, including PSAs, P11Ds, CIS and short‑term business visitor requirements.
- Lead tax support for the expatriate population, including registrations, payroll reviews and HMRC interaction.
- Ensure employment tax policies, processes and governance are robust, compliant and continuously improved.
- Provide technical advice to senior stakeholders across HR, Finance and the Executive team.
- Drive automation and simplification of tax reporting and compliance processes.
- Act as a key point of contact with HMRC and external stakeholders.
About You
- Strong experience across both expatriate tax and employment tax is essential.
- Ability to operate at manager level with minimal oversight.
- Hands‑on experience managing expatriate populations, including registrations, HMRC interaction, tax returns and payroll alignment.
- Strong knowledge of employment tax compliance, including PSAs and review of travel, hotel and mileage expenses.
- Proven experience in tax governance and administration, ideally within a large or publicly listed organisation or within HMRC.
- ACA/ACCA/CTA qualified or equivalent experience.
- Background in HMRC, Big 4, or senior in‑house employment tax roles is highly desirable.
- Experience with SAP or S4Hana is beneficial but not essential.
