This is a senior, high-impact mandate suited to an experienced finance leader who can operate as a true right hand to the CFO, bringing strategic oversight as well as hands-on delivery. The successful candidate will not only ensure best-in-class financial control but will also lead, shape and elevate the group finance agenda in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership of Group Financial Control, setting the tone, standards, and structure across the function.
  • Own and drive the group close process, ensuring accuracy, pace and continuous improvement across month, quarter and year-end cycles.
  • Take full accountability for group statutory reporting, consolidations and technical accounting, including oversight of complex accounting matters and acquisitions.
  • Strengthen and embed robust financial governance, controls and regulatory compliance frameworks across the group.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the CFO and executive team, delivering high-quality financial insight to support strategic decision-making.
  • Lead and develop the finance team, bringing gravitas, clarity and direction during a period of change.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Proven track record operating at Group Financial Controller level within complex financial services or banking environments.
  • Demonstrable experience leading group finance functions, ideally in high-growth, transforming or private equity-backed businesses.
  • Deep technical expertise across group reporting, consolidations, M&A and regulatory frameworks.
  • A credible, decisive leader with strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence at Board/C-suite level.
  • Comfortable operating at both strategic and hands-on levels, with a focus on delivery and outcomes.
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

This is a rare opportunity to step into a visible, leadership-focused interim role, where you will have the autonomy to shape the function, drive improvements and make a tangible impact at group level. This role is being offered on either a day rate (£1,000 - £1,500) or FTC basis.
