Pure Search are instructed on a rare and exciting opportunity for an IP Associate to join a Tier 1 ranked Legal 500 practice.
The Firm:
Our client is widely recognised across Europe as one of the big players in the tech, entertainment and retail market, with an enviable client list of fashion and retail brands, tech and media companies, start-ups and household name media clients. The IP team in particular have carved a niche for working with a number of leading sports, fashion, luxury brands and gaming clients.
The role is more akin to an in-house position, where you will advise across both contentious IP and brand protection matters, supporting the firm\’s European trademark offering across their UK and European offices.
The Role:
Working with clients across the TMT space, you will advise on the protection and infringement of soft IP rights, brand protection, design rights and protection strategies, and marketing and advertising.
Responsibilities will include:
- Advising on contentious UK and EU trademark disputes;
- Conducting searches to determine the availability of trade marks and design rights to assess potential conflicts;
- Managing IP portfolios across trade marks, copyrights and designs;
- Advising in negotiations and proceedings before trade mark offices and courts;
- Advising on the launch of innovative new products and services, providing advice on brand development and protection;
- Overseeing domestic and international trade mark and design applications.
The role will provide scope for a mixed focus between contentious IP and wider branding work across technology, advertising, fashion and retail.
About You:
- Qualified Solicitor with at least 3 years previous experience of IP litigation;
- Ideally existing exposure to TMT or luxury retail clients, particularly those in the media and tech industries;
- Strong academic background including a minimum 2:1 at undergraduate level;
- Interest in business development and thought leadership.
