We are seeking an experienced tax professional to take ownership of a broad direct tax portfolio across multiple jurisdictions. This senior role is responsible for compliance, reporting, governance, and strategic tax input across the organisation. You will act as a key advisor to Finance and business teams, while also supporting process improvement initiatives designed to modernise tax operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Advisory & Cross‑Functional Support: Work closely with commercial, finance and operational teams to evaluate the tax implications of new projects and business changes. Offer insight and support on cross‑border transactions, structural changes, and exposure to permanent establishment considerations.
- Tax Accounting & Reporting: Ensure accurate and complete tax accounting under IFRS, including preparation of disclosures and review of direct tax balance sheet items. Maintain high‑quality supporting documentation and ensure data accuracy throughout the reporting cycle. Prepare forecasts, briefing materials and analytical tax insights for senior stakeholders.
- Compliance Management: Oversee timely preparation and submission of direct tax filings for the UK and international territories. Manage external advisors where required and complete filings internally where appropriate. Ensure robust processes are in place for associated returns and statutory obligations.
- International Tax (Including TP): Support the creation, implementation and maintenance of transfer pricing methodologies and documentation. Coordinate with advisors to ensure the organisation’s global operating model is aligned with tax and transfer pricing expectations.
- Tax Governance: Identify potential tax risks as well as cash‑optimisation opportunities, proactively leading initiatives to address them. Act as the primary point of contact for tax authority enquiries and audits. Provide required information to external auditors in a timely and accurate manner.
- Process Improvement & Modernisation: Collaborate with internal transformation teams to enhance tax processes, strengthen controls, and improve data flows across the tax lifecycle. Contribute to the development of efficient, scalable tax compliance and reporting frameworks.
Qualifications: Professional tax or accounting qualification (e.g., CTA, ACA or equivalent). Strong technical knowledge of UK direct tax and IFRS tax accounting, plus a good awareness of international tax and transfer pricing.
Skills & Experience: Proven experience partnering with finance and commercial teams to navigate complex tax matters. Exceptional accuracy when working with detailed financial information, with the ability to translate detail into clear insights. Strong organisational abilities and comfort working to tight deadlines. Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and influencing skills. Proactive, adaptable and confident navigating an evolving business environment.
