We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join the in-house tax function of a leading insurance business. The role will take ownership of key areas of corporate tax compliance and reporting, while providing broader support across tax governance, advisory matters and business-led projects.
Working closely with colleagues across Finance and the wider business, the Tax Manager will play an important role in ensuring the group's tax obligations are met while developing a strong understanding of the commercial and regulatory environment in which the business operates.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the preparation and review of UK corporate tax returns, tax computations and associated filings across relevant group entities.
- Coordinate the wider corporate tax compliance cycle, ensuring tax payments and filing requirements are completed accurately and on time.
- Support the preparation and review of current and deferred tax provisions for statutory and group reporting purposes.
- Work closely with Finance, Accounting and other internal stakeholders on tax reporting and forecasting.
- Support tax matters relating to the group's insurance activities, investment portfolio and wider corporate structure.
- Maintain and enhance the group's tax governance, risk management and control framework.
- Support relevant UK tax governance requirements, including Senior Accounting Officer processes and the group's tax strategy, where applicable.
- Monitor developments in UK and international tax legislation and assess the potential impact on the business.
- Assist with tax authority enquiries, audits and other interactions with HMRC.
- Manage relationships with external advisers and coordinate specialist advice where required.
- Provide tax input into commercial projects, transactions, restructuring and other business initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve, streamline and automate tax compliance and reporting processes.
- Support senior members of the tax team across wider advisory and strategic tax matters.
Candidate Profile
- Strong corporate tax experience gained within an in-house tax function, professional services firm or a combination of both.
- Good technical knowledge of UK corporate taxation, particularly tax compliance and reporting.
- Experience preparing and/or reviewing corporation tax returns and tax provisions.
- Previous experience within insurance or broader financial services would be advantageous, although candidates from other complex corporate environments could also be considered.
