Role Purpose
To diagnose, repair, and service electric scooters to high technical and safety standards. The role combines mechanical skill, electrical awareness, and strong diagnostic capability to ensure every scooter returned to a customer is safe, compliant, and performing as intended.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnostics & Repair
- Carry out full diagnostic assessments on incoming scooters, including mechanical, electrical, structural, and water‑ingress inspections.
- Identify specific faults using test equipment, wiring and continuity checks, inspection guides, and controlled strip‑downs where required.
- Perform full function tests before and after repair to ensure safe operation: brakes, throttle, lights, motor response, folding systems, software/app connection, and ride performance.
- Differentiating between warrantable and chargeable issues, documenting clear findings for customer approval and warranty decision‑making.
- Confirm warranty conditions, identifying misuse, impacts, water ingress, unauthorised modifications, and wear‑and‑tear, supported by photos and notes.
- Identify all required repairs, including safety‑critical items and preventative recommendations, ensuring nothing is missed.
- Ensure the scooter is safe to return, completing torque checks, seal inspections, ride/function tests, and final quality checks.
- Perform all levels of repair in line with internal certification (Levels 1–4), including tyre/brake work, cabling, displays, motors, controllers, and battery replacements.
- Servicing & Preventative Maintenance
- Conduct annual services including tyre replacements, brake servicing, safety and torque checks, battery testing, seal checks, and full mechanical inspection.
- Build, assemble, and prep new scooters for customer handover or store display.
- Identify wear patterns and recommend preventative maintenance to customers.
- Quality & Safety
- Follow all workshop safety procedures, including safe handling of lithium batteries (UN3480/81 compliance), ESD protection, and PPE usage.
- Ensure repairs meet internal quality standards and workshop governance.
- Record all repair data accurately, ensuring parts, labour, and faults are logged correctly.
- Escalate recurring issues or patterns to the Workshop Manager or Quality team.
- Customer Interaction
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers regarding diagnoses, required repairs, timelines, and service options.
- Provide accurate quotes and obtain pre‑approval for chargeable work.
- Offer maintenance advice, safe riding tips, and recommendations to extend scooter life.
- Support the customer journey with a positive, solution‑focused attitude.
- Workflow, Systems & Administration
- Use internal systems (RMA, workshop management software, CRM, parts catalogue) to log jobs, update repair statuses, record inspections, and order parts.
- Maintain clean, organised workstations and ensure tools are well‑maintained and calibrated.
- Assist with stock counts and ensure correct spare‑parts usage and traceability.
