We are recruiting a Part-Time HR Manager for a R&D / Manufacturing start up / scale up business based in Cambridge. This is a great opportunity to join an early-stage business to develop their HR function. This will ensure they create systems and processes to help them grow a sustainable business for the future. Reporting to the CEO, you will be instrumental in developing the HR function partnering with the business to develop an engaging culture.

About the role:

As a standalone role, you will oversee 40 employees, be responsible for the generalist HR function and have the exciting opportunity to contribute to business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and evolve the HR function [and eventually team]
  • Assist management team with recruitment programme as company expands
  • Engender team spirit within the organisation
  • Develop and maintain an employee handbook
  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies to attract and retain top talent
  • Devise HR policies and processes
  • Maintain HR records using the HRIS
  • Create career pathways, job evaluation and grading
  • Devise and deliver learning events to support business performance
  • Provide strategic and tactical HR support aligned with the business initiatives

About you:

You will be an experienced HR professional who has established HR skills in developing HR processes and systems ideally from a technical environment in a start up / scale up. You will be passionate about employee engagement and how to engender a team spirit within the business.

  • CIPD qualified at level 5 or above
  • Be able to operate in a stand alone capacity
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent employment law knowledge
  • Available to start at short notice
