Our client, a well-established and highly reputable logistics and transport operator, is seeking an experienced Transport Manager to take ownership of fleet compliance, operational standards, and regulatory obligations across its transport function.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Transport Manager to join a successful organisation where compliance, safety, and continuous improvement are at the heart of the operation.

The Role Reporting to the Directors and Head of Logistics, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective and continuous management of the company's transport operations in accordance with Operator Licence requirements, DVSA standards, and all relevant transport legislation.

As the nominated Transport Manager, you will play a critical role in maintaining vehicle roadworthiness, driver compliance, and operational excellence across the fleet.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the nominated Transport Manager on the company's Goods Vehicle Operator Licence.
  • Manage all Operator Licence administration and compliance matters.
  • Liaise with the Traffic Commissioner, DVSA, and other regulatory bodies as required.
  • Ensure full compliance with Drivers' Hours Regulations and Working Time Regulations.
  • Monitor and manage tachograph compliance, infringements, and corrective actions.
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance planning, inspections, servicing, and MOT scheduling.
  • Manage defect reporting processes and vehicle roadworthiness standards.
  • Conduct compliance audits and maintain accurate transport records.
  • Lead investigations and disciplinary processes relating to driver infringements and traffic incidents.
  • Manage relationships with external maintenance providers and ensure service standards are maintained.
  • Monitor fuel card usage and investigate any anomalies.
  • Carry out driver licence and vocational qualification checks.
  • Support accident investigations and insurance-related administration.
  • Drive a strong compliance culture throughout the transport operation.
  • Keep senior management informed of legislative changes and compliance risks.
  • The Candidate
  • National or International Transport Manager CPC.
  • Previous experience as a Transport Manager within a fleet, haulage, logistics, distribution, or transport environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Operator Licence requirements.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance compliance and roadworthiness obligations.
  • Proven experience managing Drivers' Hours and Tachograph compliance.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
