We are working with a leading medical device developer in their search for a Senior Design Engineer to join their Device Development team. This is an initial 6-month temporary contract, very likely to extend, offering the chance to contribute to innovative projects in a highly collaborative and technical environment.
As Senior Design Engineer, you will provide mechanical design input across devices, filling equipment, assembly equipment and test rigs. You’ll be hands-on in creating viable concepts, supporting project timelines, and ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards.
Applicants must have extensive experience using Creo.
Core responsibilities include:
- Producing high-quality CAD designs for injection moulded components, mechanisms, and test equipment
- Developing surface models and viable concepts using advanced Creo surfacing techniques
- Conducting tolerance analysis (TAN) and risk analysis (FMEA) for designs
- Writing and reviewing design specifications, validation documents and reports
- Testing designs in laboratory environments and documenting findings
- Collaborating with external suppliers and internal development teams to deliver project goals
- Applying design-for-manufacture principles to support high-volume production
- Ensuring compliance with ISO 13485, ISO 14971 and other relevant regulatory guidance
About you:
- Mechanical design/engineering background with strong Creo expertise (including surfacing)
- Track record of designing injection moulded products for high-volume manufacture
- Experience with rapid prototyping and testing in lab environments
- Ability to work independently and provide guidance to junior colleagues
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to develop solutions from first principles
- Medical device experience is desirable but not essential
