About the role

We are working with a purpose-led technology business that develops digital platforms used across education and public sector environments. They are looking for a Product Designer (UX/UI) to take ownership of the user experience across their learner-facing products. This is a key role within the product team, with a strong emphasis on improving the quality of UI design, establishing clear design standards, and delivering a consistent and accessible experience. The role will suit someone who enjoys working on complex, meaningful products where design has a genuine impact on how people engage and progress.

What you will be doing

You will be responsible for designing intuitive, high-quality experiences across multiple digital platforms. Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating high fidelity UI designs that translate complex workflows into clear and usable interfaces
  • Designing end-to-end user journeys that are simple, accessible and engaging
  • Ensuring a consistent user experience across different products and user groups
  • Developing and maintaining design guidelines and standards to improve consistency and reduce subjectivity
  • Working closely with engineering and product teams to bring structure to the design process and deliver high quality outputs
  • Using available feedback and insight to inform design decisions and continuously improve the experience
  • Demonstrating the impact of your design work through improvements in engagement, usability and progression

The user challenge

This is not a typical UX role. You will be designing for users with:

  • Varying levels of digital confidence
  • Diverse learning needs and cognitive profiles
  • Low motivation or engagement with education

Accessibility is central to the role. Designs must be clear, inclusive and easy to use for a wide range of users.

What they are looking for

Essential experience:

  • Experience in UX/UI or product design
  • A strong portfolio showing:
  • High quality UI design
  • Full user journey thinking
  • Evidence of impact from your design work
  • Proficiency with Figma or similar tools
  • Ability to make informed design decisions using limited direct user feedback
  • Confidence working in a structured, standards-driven design environment
  • Desirable experience:

    • Background in digital learning, knowledge platforms or behaviour-focused products
    • Experience designing for users with low engagement or complex needs
    • Understanding of accessibility best practice
    • Experience working closely with developers
    • Ability to create interactive prototypes

    Why this role stands out

    • A genuine opportunity to own and shape the UX/UI function
    • Work on products where design directly influences outcomes and engagement
    • Be part of a business where design maturity is evolving and your input will add real value
