This is a key hire for the business, offering the opportunity to take ownership of strategic purchasing activity, influence supplier performance, and play a key role in driving commercial value across the supply chain.
The Opportunity
- Working closely with the Procurement Manager, you’ll lead on sourcing strategy and supplier engagement across a defined category base.
- Alongside managing complex negotiations, you’ll help shape procurement processes, support continuous improvement initiatives, and provide guidance to more junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead sourcing activity, from supplier identification through to contract negotiation.
- Manage and develop relationships with key suppliers, ensuring consistency in quality, cost and service levels.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of procurement strategy.
- Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiency.
- Oversee purchasing activity to ensure continuity of supply and effective stock management.
- Monitor supplier performance, resolving any issues relating to quality or delivery.
- Analyse market trends and spend data to support informed decision-making.
- Support and mentor junior members of the procurement team.
- Work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to align procurement activity with wider business goals.
- Ensure all procurement processes meet internal policies and regulatory requirements.
About You
- Established experience within a procurement or senior buying role.
- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering value through negotiation.
- Confident managing supplier relationships and influencing outcomes.
- Experience contributing to or shaping procurement strategy.
- Comfortable working with ERP/MRP systems and analysing data.
- Highly organised with a proactive, solutions-led approach.
- CIPS qualification (or working towards) would be beneficial.
