Buyer (6-Month Fixed-Term Contract)

Β£38,000 - Β£43,000

Are you a commercially minded Buyer who enjoys building strong supplier relationships, negotiating value-driven agreements, and making a tangible impact on business performance?

We're partnering with a well-established organisation seeking an experienced procurement professional to join their team on an initial six-month fixed-term contract. This is an opportunity to step into a busy, fast-moving environment where your expertise will help drive cost efficiencies, support operational continuity, and strengthen supplier performance.

Working across multiple areas of the business, you'll take ownership of supplier relationships, sourcing activities, and commercial negotiations, ensuring products and services are delivered on time, at the right quality, and at the best possible value.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing and developing relationships with a broad supplier base
  • Leading negotiations on pricing, service levels, delivery schedules and commercial terms
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce costs and improve supplier performance
  • Sourcing products and services from both existing and new suppliers
  • Gathering and analysing quotations to support informed purchasing decisions
  • Monitoring supplier performance and resolving quality, service or delivery issues
  • Conducting market research to identify alternative suppliers and benchmark pricing
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and support operational needs
  • Maintaining accurate purchasing, supplier and contract information
  • Supporting wider procurement and continuous improvement initiatives

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience within a Buyer, Procurement Officer, Purchasing Officer or Senior Buyer position
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance cost, quality and service considerations
  • Proven supplier negotiation experience with a track record of delivering value
  • Excellent relationship-building skills and the confidence to influence both suppliers and stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with a focus on delivering results

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This role would suit someone who enjoys getting stuck into the detail while also influencing wider commercial decisions. You'll be joining a collaborative team where your contribution will be visible from day one and where you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine impact during the contract period.
