Public Affairs Manager

About the Role We are seeking an experienced Public Affairs Manager to lead my clients political engagement and advocacy work at a pivotal time for health research and innovation. This is an exciting opportunity to shape policy, influence decision-makers at the highest levels of UK government, and manage a small but high-performing team. You will be responsible for developing and delivering impactful public affairs strategies that strengthen our voice across Westminster and Whitehall, while guiding and supporting your direct reports to achieve shared objectives. Please note: Applicants must have demonstrable experience in directly line managing staff, alongside a strong track record in public affairs and Westminster engagement. Key Responsibilities Design and deliver proactive public affairs strategies that influence UK Government policy. Build and maintain strong relationships with MPs, peers, civil servants, and key stakeholders. Provide high-quality political intelligence, analysis, and briefings to senior leaders and colleagues. Represent the organisation at external meetings, roundtables, and parliamentary events. Lead and develop team members through effective line management, mentoring, and performance reviews. Draft consultation responses, policy briefings, and other advocacy materials.Essential Experience and Skills Significant experience in a public affairs or policy role  ideally within or closely connected to Westminster. Proven track record of directly line managing and developing staff. In-depth knowledge of UK political institutions, processes, and public policy development. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to influence and build trust. Strategic thinker with experience managing complex campaigns and stakeholder networks.
