Role Summary
Our Client is hiring a Production Engineer to support growth and improve manufacturing performance. This role is central to delivering operational excellence: you will diagnose production issues, implement process improvements and work cross-functionally to raise output, quality and safety standards. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who wants to make a measurable impact on product yield, lead times and overall efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Analyse production processes to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies and quality issues
- Lead small to medium continuous improvement projects using data‑driven methods
- Develop and update work instructions, process flows and technical documentation
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventative actions
- Commission and optimise equipment, liaising with maintenance and suppliers
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) and present findings to stakeholders
- Support new product introductions and process scale‑up activities
- Provide technical support to shopfloor teams and train operators on best practice
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience (typically 2-5 years) in a production or process engineering role within manufacturing
- Strong problem‑solving skills and experience with root cause analysis tools (e.g. 8D, Ishikawa)
- Practical knowledge of process control, tooling, production layout and quality assurance
- Competent with data analysis (Excel or equivalent) and comfortable using metrics to drive decisions
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Effective communication skills and experience working with multi‑disciplinary teams
- Right to work as required for on‑site operational roles
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Formal training in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Yellow/Green belt) or continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems, PLC basics, or factory automation
- Background in new product introduction or commissioning complex equipment
- Project management experience and supplier development exposure
Preferred Education and Experience
- Degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or similar engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience/apprenticeship
- Demonstrable track record of delivering measurable process improvements
