Electrical Project Engineer
Location: Ipswich
Salary: £50,000 OTE PA
Reports To: Electrical Engineering Manager
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to lead and deliver electrical engineering projects within the Electrical Engineering Team. You will support the installation, commissioning, and handover of electrical systems and upgrades, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high technical and safety standards. Projects vary across large, complex heavy‑industrial settings and will be managed by a team of experienced professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Support electrical projects from initial concept, design, manufacture and installation.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment.
- Provide technical support on PLCs, drives, motors, and instrumentation.
- Review and approve electrical drawings, schematics, and documentation.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all work complies with relevant regulations (e.g., BS7671, IEC standards).
- Promote and enforce health & safety standards on all projects.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure safe systems of work.
Skills & Experience Essential
- Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- C&G Level3 Electrical Inspection BS7671 (18th Edition).
- C&G Level3 (2391‑01) Inspection & Testing of Electrical installations.
- Proven experience delivering electrical engineering projects in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical distribution and control systems, PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen Bradley), motors, drives, and automation systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
