We are looking for an experienced generalist HR candidate to join a growing SME based near Epping. The position will consist of a range of duties and will help shape the future of the company as they develop.

Operating in a fast paced and varied environment, this role is critical in supporting operational managers and ensuring that recruitment, HR and employee relations processes are efficient, and in line with safety guidelines.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping the employee experience, strengthening culture, and supporting the organisation through continued growth and change.

Key Details

  • Starting salary dependent on experience circa £40,000
  • Monday - Friday 08:30-17:30
  • 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the recruitment process across operational field roles, drivers, site operatives, technicians, other staff.
  • Oversee candidate screening, competency assessments and interview frameworks.
  • Manage right-to-work checks, DBS and other compliance related activities.
  • Act as the primary HR contact for managers across multi-site operations, providing expert advice on ER, conduct, performance, attendance and investigations.
  • Lead and support disciplinaries, grievances, and other related ER cases where needed.
  • Ensure accurate HR data, records, training logs and are maintained.
  • Lead onboarding and induction processes, ensuring new hires receive compliance, health & safety and environmental training.
  • Keep HR policies up to date with legislative changes, environmental industry regulations and best practice.
  • Build strong relationships with staff across the business and support them with changes and improvements.
  • Lead initiatives to strengthen culture, employee engagement and leadership capability across the organisation.
  • Support the business with training, health and safety and any other related activities.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in a generalist HR role or similar position.
  • Experienced in full recruitment processes in a high volume environment.
  • Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Experience supporting managers in a fast paced environment such as engineering, manufacturing or logistics.
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships and coach managers.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Confident to make decisions, support in different areas of the business and be adaptable.
  • Resilient and proactive, with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ideally CIPD qualified
