I am proud to be partnering with Bakers & Larners of Holt, one of Norfolk's most respected independent department stores, on a retained basis in the search for an experienced and commercially driven Fashion Buyer. This is a rare opportunity to join a long-established and highly regarded retailer with a reputation for quality, service and a carefully curated product offering. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future direction of the fashion department, developing a distinctive range that reflects the Bakers & Larners brand whilst delivering strong commercial performance.

Reporting to the Head of Retail Operations, you will take ownership of the buying strategy across womenswear, menswear and accessories, identifying opportunities to enhance the product offer, introducing new brands and ensuring ranges resonate with the store's loyal customer base.

The role will involve:

  • Developing and delivering seasonal buying strategies across fashion categories.
  • Sourcing and selecting commercially successful product ranges aligned with customer demand and brand values.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and brands.
  • Negotiating pricing, delivery schedules and commercial terms.
  • Monitoring sales performance, margins and stock levels to maximise profitability.
  • Identifying and responding to market trends, competitor activity and customer preferences.
  • Working collaboratively with retail, visual merchandising and marketing teams to drive sales and enhance the customer experience.
  • Attending trade shows, supplier meetings and buying appointments, including occasional European travel.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience as a Fashion Buyer or established Junior Buyer.
  • Strong commercial awareness and a track record of delivering sales and margin targets.
  • Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Confidence in analysing sales data and translating insights into action.
  • A genuine passion for fashion and a strong understanding of current and emerging trends.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial and commercially minded approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

In return, Bakers & Larners offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact within a successful independent business where your expertise and ideas will directly influence the future of the fashion offering. You will join a collaborative and supportive team environment and receive a competitive salary, staff discount and the opportunity to attend industry events and buying trips.

This is a fully site-based role in Holt, North Norfolk, working five days per week. Flexibility is required during peak trading periods, along with occasional travel for supplier meetings, trade shows and buying appointments.

As this is a retained assignment, all enquiries and applications should be directed exclusively to Emily Colby at Pure. Please submit your CV for a confidential discussion about this opportunity.
