Role Overview
This key position has been created as part of a strategic growth initiative. The Bookkeeper will be instrumental in managing everyday financial transactions, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and preparing essential financial reports. Working in a friendly office setting in Ongar, Essex, this role promises variety, challenge, and the opportunity to develop your skills within a supportive organisation known for its professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Recording and maintaining all financial transactions including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments
- Reconciling bank statements and verifying the accuracy of financial data
- Managing accounts payable and receivable to ensure timely processing
- Processing invoices and providing support with credit control activities
- Maintaining and updating the general ledger and financial records
- Assisting in the preparation of financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Ensuring compliance with tax obligations and assisting with filings
- Working closely with auditors during financial reviews and audits
- Organising and securing comprehensive financial documentation
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or a similar accounting role
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures
- Competency in accounting software such as Xero and Microsoft Excel

Other Requirements
This is an office-based role, ideally working two days per week, from 09:00 to 17:00 with a one-hour unpaid lunch.
