Are you an experienced Electrical Project Engineer looking to take ownership of complex, high-value power infrastructure projects? Our client is a specialist electrical engineering organisation with an outstanding reputation for delivering critical HV and LV infrastructure projects across the industrial, utilities, manufacturing, energy, and commercial sectors. Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they are seeking an ambitious Electrical Project Engineer to join their expanding team.

This is an exciting opportunity to manage technically challenging projects ranging from £100,000 to £5 million in value, covering everything from new electrical installations and substations through to complex retrofit programmes, system upgrades, switchgear replacements, shutdown works, and major plant overhauls. Working closely with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and delivery teams, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget.

The Role

As Electrical Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle delivery of multiple electrical infrastructure projects, from initial scope development and technical specification through to commissioning and final handover. You'll combine strong technical expertise with commercial awareness, leadership capability, and exceptional stakeholder management skills to ensure successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of HV and LV electrical projects.
  • Manage projects ranging from £100k to £5m in value.
  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, programmes, and resource requirements.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to develop technical specifications and project solutions.
  • Coordinate contractors, suppliers, and internal resources to ensure effective project execution.
  • Monitor project costs, budgets, variations, and profitability throughout delivery.
  • Ensure all works are completed safely and in compliance with industry regulations, CDM requirements, and company procedures.
  • Manage installation, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
  • Produce regular progress reports, identifying risks, challenges, and solutions.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and professional project delivery.
  • Support site surveys, tender activities, and project planning initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement, capturing lessons learned and implementing best practice across future projects.
  • Ensure high standards of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality performance across all project activities.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in speaking with engineers who enjoy taking ownership of projects and thrive in technically demanding environments. You will ideally have:

  • HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience delivering HV and LV electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of power distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, protection schemes, and industrial electrical installations.
  • Proven project management experience within industrial, utilities, energy, power, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Excellent commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets and P&L responsibility.
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations and safe systems of work.
  • IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS, or similar health and safety qualifications.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and customer focus.
