An established organisation within the engineering sector is seeking an experienced Interim Financial Controller to support the finance function during a critical period. This is a senior, hands-on assignment focused on delivering robust financial reporting, maintaining strong financial control and providing clear, commercial insight to senior leadership and the Board.
The Role
Reporting into senior finance leadership, you will take immediate ownership of the month-end management accounts, statutory reporting and audit processes, while providing day-to-day leadership to the finance team. The role will play a key part in ensuring continuity, strengthening controls and supporting informed decision-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and deliver accurate, timely month-end management accounts.
- Report financial performance, cash position and project performance to senior stakeholders.
- Manage statutory accounts preparation and support external audit processes.
- Partner with commercial and operational teams to provide project-level reporting and insight.
- Contribute to enhanced reporting metrics and short-term finance improvement initiatives.
- Provide interim leadership and direction to the finance team.
- Ensure compliance with governance, mandatory training and information security requirements.
Experience & Qualifications
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
- Strong track record in management accounts, audit and financial reporting.
- Commercially minded, with experience in project-driven, infrastructure or engineering environments desirable.
- Experience improving finance processes and systems, ideally within SAP.
- Exposure to contract accounting, joint ventures or BI tools is advantageous.
