We are supporting a leading education provider in the search for an experienced Payroll & Pensions Manager to lead and deliver a highly accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll and pensions function. This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-driven payroll professional to take ownership of a complex payroll environment, working closely with HR, Finance, and external bodies to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time, while maintaining full compliance with statutory regulations.
The main duties are as follows:
- Lead the end-to-end monthly payroll process using iTrent, ensuring accuracy across PAYE, National Insurance, and pension contributions.
- Submit FPS/EPS returns to HMRC and manage all year-end payroll processes.
- Oversee pension schemes including LGPS and Teachers’ Pension Scheme, ensuring full statutory compliance.
- Manage auto-enrolment processes and regulatory requirements.
- Act as the main point of contact for pension-related queries (internal and external).
- Produce and reconcile monthly payroll and pension reports and submissions.
- Develop reporting, workforce metrics, and payroll forecasting to support business decision-making.
- Provide monthly management information to Finance and support annual budget planning.
- Support and train stakeholders to ensure effective use of systems.
- Line manage and develop a Payroll/HR Administrator.
- Partner with HR, Finance, and operational teams to deliver a seamless payroll service.
You must have proven experience managing payroll in a medium to large organisation and have strong knowledge of payroll and pensions legislation. You must have strong analytical skills and the ability to identify issues and drive improvements.
