Facilities and Health & Safety Manager
Basildon, Essex | Part-Time (2-3 Days Per Week)
Are you a practical Health & Safety professional who enjoys taking ownership and making things happen?
We're working with a successful engineering and manufacturing business seeking a Facilities and Health & Safety Manager to lead site compliance, facilities management and workplace safety across its operations. This is a hands-on, standalone role offering plenty of autonomy and the opportunity to make a genuine impact.
The Role
You'll be responsible for ensuring a safe, compliant and efficient working environment across both office and workshop facilities, whilst driving continuous improvement in health, safety and environmental standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading all aspects of Health & Safety compliance.
- Managing risk assessments, audits and investigations.
- Maintaining policies, procedures and compliance records.
- Overseeing building maintenance and site facilities.
- Managing contractors and service providers.
- Delivering H&S training and promoting a strong safety culture.
- Acting as the main point of contact for external inspections and audits.
About You
We're looking for someone who can work independently and confidently within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous Health & Safety and/or Facilities Management experience.
- Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation.
- Experience carrying out risk assessments and implementing H&S systems.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- A proactive, hands-on approach.
NEBOSH, IOSH membership, and experience within an SME manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
