Project Manager – Battery Energy Storage (BESS)
We’re recruiting a hands-on Project Manager for a client delivering a large scale battery storage project as EPC contractor.
You’ll lead delivery from office to energisation. That covers programme, cost and risk, the EPC contract and the client relationship, and getting the project through testing and commissioning to energisation. The contractor runs the site day to day, so you’ll also be the EPC’s eyes and ears there, holding them to account on progress, quality and safety.
It’s a small, fast-moving team where everyone does a bit of everything, so this suits someone who is technically credible, commercially aware and happy to get stuck in.
What you’ll be doing:
- Owning the programme, tracking cost and risk, and flagging issues early
- Managing contract notices, variations and the main client relationship
- Tracking long-lead equipment such as transformers and battery systems, and managing subcontractors
- Leading FAT, SAT, commissioning and energisation, including DNO/IDNO coordination and G99
- Regular site oversight: checking quality, verifying progress and managing defects through to handover
- Leading oversight of Principal Contractor duties under CDM 2015
What we’re looking for:
- Proven project management experience on electrical infrastructure, energy, utilities or similar construction projects
- Contract administration under NEC, FIDIC or similar
- Strong electrical background with hands-on testing and commissioning experience (FAT/SAT)
- Solid knowledge of CDM 2015, plus SMSTS or equivalent
- Confident challenging contractors and suppliers, and comfortable working on your own
Nice to have:
- Experience with BESS, solar, wind or other HV infrastructure; transformers and switchgear; G99 and Grid Code; C&G 2391; NEBOSH; PRINCE2 or APM.
