Job Description Fire & Security Engineer \n Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire (UK travel) \n Full time, permanent \n Salary - £40,000 \n Our client, BDi Advance Fire & Security Ltd, is growing its engineering team and is looking for an experienced Fire & Security Engineer to join the business. \n This is a varied field-based role working across commercial client sites, covering installation, commissioning, planned maintenance, reactive callouts and fault finding across a broad range of fire and electronic security systems. \n Fire & Security Engineer, the role: \n \n \n Install, configure and commission fire and security systems in line with system designs, manufacturer requirements and relevant British Standards \n \n \n \n Install and commission fire detection and alarm, CCTV, access control, intruder alarm and intercom systems \n \n \n \n Carry out containment, cabling, termination and equipment installation where required \n \n \n \n Program and configure control equipment, devices, networks and software \n \n \n \n Complete planned preventative maintenance, inspections and functional testing \n \n \n \n Attend reactive service calls and diagnose faults across hardware, software, cabling, power supplies and network infrastructure \n \n \n \n Repair or replace defective equipment where authorised \n \n \n \n Identify recurring faults and establish their root cause \n \n \n \n Complete commissioning documentation, service reports, certificates and engineer worksheets accurately \n \n \n \n Provide technical information for quotations, remedial works and system upgrades \n \n \n \n Maintain accurate job records using electronic job management systems \n \n \n \n Communicate professionally with customers and site representatives, explaining faults and recommendations clearly \n \n \n \n Identify opportunities for additional works, upgrades or improvements and report these back to the company \n \n \n \n Work safely in accordance with company procedures, RAMS, relevant legislation and industry standards \n \n \n \n Participate in the on-call rota following completion of the required training and competency assessment \n \n \n \n The role covers a broad range of systems including fire detection and alarms, CCTV, access control, intruder alarms and integrated security systems. \n \n Fire & Security Engineer, the person: \n \n \n Previous experience within the fire and/or electronic security industry \n \n \n \n Strong practical engineering and fault-finding skills \n \n \n \n Experience servicing and maintaining electronic systems \n \n \n \n Comfortable working independently across customer sites \n \n \n \n Good understanding of fire alarm, CCTV, access control and intruder alarm systems \n \n \n \n Good understanding of basic IP networking and system integration \n \n \n \n Able to read system drawings, specifications and technical documentation \n \n \n \n Strong attention to detail and accurate technical reporting \n \n \n \n Professional and confident customer communication skills \n \n \n \n Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements \n \n \n \n Full UK driving licence \n \n Fire & Security Engineer, the benefits: \n \n \n 25 days' annual leave plus Bank holidays \n \n \n \n Private Healthcare \n \n \n \n Dental cover \n \n \n \n £150 on call bonus for 1 in 6 after probationary period \n \n Pure Human Resources Limited works in partnership with BDi Advance Fire & Security Ltd in providing recruitment support.
