Full time, permanent hybrid role (2 days in London based office, 3 days WFH). Salary: £25k.

Our client, The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), is a learned society and membership organisation working with its global community of marine engineering, science, and technology professionals to improve marine and maritime safety, environment and sustainability through professional standards and knowledge sharing. Spanning across 129 countries, they pride themselves on bringing together over 13,000 interdisciplinary members worldwide and supporting them in their professional development.

They are now seeking an enthusiastic and organised Technical and Policy Assistant to support the work of their Technical and Policy Directorate, helping coordinate committees, support technical activities and contribute to the delivery of the Institute's charitable and strategic objectives. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their organisational, governance and coordination skills within an internationally recognised professional body.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative and coordination support to the Technical and Policy Directorate.
  • Support the administration of Technical Committees, Special Interest Groups and related boards.
  • Assist with arranging meetings, preparing agendas and recording actions and decisions.
  • Maintain committee records, schedules and documentation.
  • Support the onboarding of volunteers and ensure access to relevant resources.
  • Assist with tracking committee activity and maintaining status logs and records.
  • Support peer review processes using established templates and systems.
  • Work with colleagues across the Institute to support technical meetings, activities and events.
  • Assist with the preparation of internal and external reports.
  • Maintain accurate records to support reporting and governance requirements.
  • Undertake general administrative duties as required by the Technical and Policy Director.
Person Specification:
  • Strong administrative or coordination experience gained through work, volunteering or education.
  • An interest in governance, policy or professional body environments.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to work with a range of stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Collaborative and supportive team player.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and work within established frameworks.
Desirable:
  • Administration or project administration training.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.
