Due to their recent restructure, they are now looking for an experienced and proactive Finance Manager to join their team in Andover, Hampshire. You will need strong analytical skills and outstanding management abilities to effectively draw out measurable and quantifiable data that can influence business decisions. You must be capable of managing the finance team to maintain the companys day-to-day financial duties.

Finance Manager, the role:

  • Encourage a collaborative working culture across departments.
  • Prepare and post monthly accounting adjustments, including accruals and prepayments.
  • Take the lead in producing monthly management accounts and financial reports for both internal leadership and Group, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Oversee cashflow planning and ensure accurate cash forecasting.
  • Drive efficient credit control processes to maximise timely cash collection.
  • Contribute to annual budgeting and periodic forecasting activities.
  • Coordinate the preparation of year-end accounts and act as the key liaison with Group finance teams, external accountants, and auditors.
  • Manage VAT returns, PAYE processes, and other statutory HMRC submissions.
  • Oversee end-to-end payroll operations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records within internal systems.
  • Monitor and manage company expenditure, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and challenging costs where appropriate.
  • Ensure all statutory obligations are met, including VAT and payroll compliance.
  • Develop and regularly update internal finance policies and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to export compliance requirements such as customs documentation, export controls, and trade agreements.
  • Oversee the smooth day-to-day running of the finance function.
  • Deliver financial insights and recommendations to inform business strategy.
  • Provide financial input into capital investment planning.
  • Help build financial literacy across the organisation through clear communication.
  • Support the selection and rollout of new IT and finance systems.
  • Assist with general HR administration and coordinate with external HR providers.
  • Support company health & safety activities in coordination with Group teams.

Finance Manager, the person:

  • Demonstrable experience in a finance or accounting role within a UK-based SME environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK financial compliance, including VAT legislation and payroll operations.
  • Confident user of accounting software and financial systems.
  • Strong general IT proficiency, with the ability to work comfortably across multiple platforms.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to managing the finance function independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster effective collaboration across departments and with senior leadership.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with strong organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Ideally, professionally qualified (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA).
