About Us
The Pure Group was founded to disrupt the market with our mission to help families rest easy by giving them the freedom to choose how to celebrate their life. We are now the UK’s leading provider of later-life and end-of-life planning services. FCA regulated, financially secure and continuing to grow, we’re investing in our people, technology and services to keep raising the standard. Job Purpose
The role of Mortuary and Transfer Specialist is essential to facilitate frontline mortuary care and execute the dignified, safe transfer of deceased clients between locations. Blending logistics co-ordination with the deeply sensitive requirements of deceased care, this role ensures a highly dignified service, seamless transit operations, and absolute regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Frontline Mortuary Care and Client Preparation: Take full responsibility for the dignified care, handling and preparation of the deceased for cremation, ensuring the highest standards are consistently maintained. Ensure clients are placed in the correct size coffins and complete all essential workflows. Remove harmful implants, such as pacemakers and any materials unsuitable for cremation, verifying removals both visually and via a metal detector. Prepare repatriated clients for cremation and arrange the safe disposal of associated zinc linings in accordance with company policy. Catalogue, record, and secure all personal effects and jewellery while updating the mortuary register. Prepare and place nameplates on coffins for clients where families have selected an attended service.
- Long-Distance Logistics and Deceased Transit: Safely and respectfully transfer deceased clients resting in our care. Receive ashes following cremation, ensure tracking is accurate and plan or lay out return items for the Ashes Return team. Act as a Brand Ambassador for the company, ensuring all transit and collection activities reflect the company in a positive way.
- Identity Verification and Digital Body Tracking: Conduct rigorous identification checks immediately upon receipt of a client into care, accurately checking legal paperwork and internal systems. Ensure absolute verification of the deceased's identity before conducting any removal or transport operation. Maintain 100% compliance with the Body Tracking Application, scanning QR codes to record detailed progress at every operational stage. Allocate mortuary bays using dedicated bay allocation technology to register exact resting locations. Record information in an accurate way, processing all associated documentation in a methodical and compliant manner.
- Clinical Housekeeping and Fleet Maintenance: Ensure that the mortuary is clean, safe, sterile and secure always, strictly preventing any unauthorised access. Always adhere to appropriate clinical waste and infection control protocols to maintain sterile environments. Maintain company vehicles in a clean, presentable and roadworthy condition. Conduct mandatory pre and post-drive safety checks. Promptly log and report vehicle defects or routine maintenance needs to the Fleet Coordinator or Line Manager. Adhere strictly to driver company rules regarding speed limits, manual handling, lone working and driving with courtesy.
