Location: Andover

Hours: 44 hours per week, 4 on 4 off 80% days and 20% nights

To support the Drivers Operations Manager and oversee the Knutsford Reactive Private Ambulance Teams, ensuring that the Company’s policies and procedures are understood and adhered to. You will act as a dedicated point of contact for the Knutsford Reactive Private Ambulance Teams for resolving queries, issues and feedback and ensuring that they are dealt with in a quality way and work with the management team to drive continued improvements. This role will be primarily office based but at times it will be required for you to be on the road supporting the Knutsford Reactive Private Ambulance Teams, with collections, 1 to 1’s and ride outs.

The Role

The Private Ambulance Crew Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the team and ensuring that the Company’s policies and procedures are understood and adhered to. To act as a brand ambassador and play a key role in evaluating and enhancing team performance, providing constructive feedback and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Working closely with your team to drive performance, maintain consistency, and uphold our Pure Values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitoring the work orders for staff for the collection of the deceased from hospitals, nursing homes and private residences.
  • To conduct regular 1:1 meetings with the team to review performance, share ideas and seek areas of improvement or clarification.
  • Collate common issues and personal issues resulting from 1:1 or team meetings and seek resolution within the Company and provide feedback as appropriate.
  • Monitoring absence, including the completion of Return to Work documentation.
  • To work alongside the Knutsford Reactive Private Ambulance team either alone or with joint activity with the team.
  • To use observation, feedback and experience to seek ways to contribute to the Company’s continued improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Scheduling team to give feedback on problems and improvements that could be made to the planning cycle.
  • Organise (and participate in) the on‑call rota and resource appropriately.
  • Lead the induction of new employees to ensure they are compliant with the required standards of performance and Company procedures.
  • Keep visual inspection of the vehicle fleet, flagging any routine checks, planned maintenance and reactive maintenance to the Fleet Manager.
  • Monitor the team to ensure they behave appropriately and are presented in a manner that is fit to represent the Company’s brand.
  • Ensuring the Knutsford Reactive Private Ambulance team’s compliance with statutory and company guidelines for appropriate legislation such as Health and Safety and Working Time directives.
  • Deputise for the manager during periods of absence.
  • Alert the Drivers Operations Manager to any potential infringements and make recommendations as to practical remediation.
  • Serve as a role model, coaching and mentoring them to achieve the Company standards and their adherence to policy and procedure.
  • Work closely with Knutsford Reactive Private Ambulance Teams to identify areas of operational improvement and implement solutions or flag to the Drivers Operations Manager and Operations for approval.
  • Ensure that the mortuary, transfer area and coffin store are used correctly, safely and with consideration to others.
  • Adhere to the current company policy regarding data protection.
  • Work closely with the Night Team Managers to ensure that feedback is obtained/shared and that we utilise our ambulances efficiently.

Required to work shifts on a basis of 4 days on 4 days off 80/20 split Nights rotation every 5–6 weeks, allowing engagement with reactive ambulance teams on various shifts.
