About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Oracle Database Developer to join our data and technology team on a 12-month contract. You’ll play a key role in designing, developing, and optimising Oracle database solutions, supporting large-scale data migration, integration, and transformation projects. This role will suit someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and has a deep understanding of Oracle’s RDBMS and performance tuning.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Oracle database components and PL/SQL code (procedures, packages, triggers).
- Support ETL and data migration projects, ensuring data integrity and performance across large datasets.
- Develop and optimise SQL scripts, queries, and DML/DDL operations.
- Use SQL*Loader, Database Links, and related utilities for efficient data movement.
- Conduct performance analysis, tune queries, and review execution plans to maximise efficiency.
- Work with UNIX shell environments, maintaining and developing automation scripts.
- Collaborate with project teams, analysts, and stakeholders to meet business and technical requirements.
Technical Skills & Experience
- Oracle RDBMS (v19 or later) – strong knowledge of structure, configuration, and capabilities.
- SQL – advanced scripting and query development.
- PL/SQL – hands-on coding experience for stand-alone scripts, procedures, packages, and triggers.
- ETL / Data Migration – experience with large-scale data movement and transformation projects.
- SQL*Loader & Database Links – practical experience loading and connecting large data sets.
- Performance Tuning – skilled in code analysis and execution plan optimisation.
- Oracle Tools – SQL*Plus, TOAD, SQL Developer.
- UNIX / Linux – knowledge of shell scripting; exposure to PHP or Perl scripting a plus.
- Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint.
