Job Description

Are you a driven couple or an individual operator looking for a new challenge? Are you passionate about serving exceptional drinks, brilliant food and creating a fantastic atmosphere?

Were looking for an operator who understands what makes locals tick. Strong community ties are essential to this pub, which means the ideal candidate will engage the local community and visitors alike.

Youll be a charismatic creative, hosting the best entertainment in the area, and understand how to spend an entertainment budget wisely to generate the most return for your investment. Hosting family and live events will be vital to this business alongside a robust rhythm of the week offering.

Understanding the different demographics in the area and the varying reasons why people use the pub is also essential. The ideal operator will have the creative vision and ability to deliver the optimum and consistent guest experience with a strong focus on food. Youll ensure your drinks are of the highest standard with a focus on real ales and quality wines and spirits.

The accommodation element demands an operator who can create a homely environment with keen attention to detail. Youll have the vision, creativity, and appetite to promote this facet of the business. Meeting statutory requirements will be second nature to you, and previous experience of achieving excellent results and feedback on compliance will be evident.

Youll be successful because you seek new opportunities to evolve. You will be motivated to innovate, creating new angles to evoke interest using your social media channels. You will make memories in your pub that guests will share on social, also receiving excellent reviews for your service.

The pub and location

The Avenue sits in the village of High Shincliffe on the outskirts of Durham City in between Shincliffe and Bowburn. Its only two miles from the A1 and 10 miles from the A19.

The ideal operator will maximise the benefits of our investment, which will upgrade the building whilst keeping the intrinsic traditional look and feel internally with lush plants enveloping the outside space.

Youll take advantage of the bar servery and a smaller adjacent room with the kitchen on the same floor totalling approximately 80 covers. Youll also maximise the drinking area with tables to the front and rear of the pub totalling approx. 50 covers. Youll discover six bedrooms situated on the two floors above the pub.

Alongside tonnes of day to day support and a brilliant framework to grow the business, we provide an uncapped cut of top line turnover to pay yourself and your team in exchange for your Management Company providing the management services at the pub its your structure to own, subject to management company costs including, but not limited to, staff costs, minor repairs and maintenance at the pub, security/door staff and insurance. We understand how important it is for a Management Company to completely own their own team.
