Role Purpose
As part of Punch Pubs’ commitment to unlocking growth and driving excellence across our estate, the Regional Gaming Manager (RGM) plays a critical role in maximising machine income, ensuring compliance, and supporting our Publicans in achieving commercial success. The RGM will unlock untapped potential through the strategic deployment and optimisation of gaming and amusement machines, strong stakeholder engagement, and a focus on regulatory compliance and cost efficiency. This role is analytical and hands‑on, requiring regular on‑site visits and close collaboration with our Operations Managers, Publicans and Suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Unlock Untapped Potential
- Identify opportunities across the estate to enhance machine performance and revenue generation.
- Develop and implement site‑specific action plans to improve underperforming machines.
- Coach and support Publicans to understand machine performance and maximise engagement with customers.
- Share insight and best practice across regions to drive consistent improvement.
- Strategic Deployment & Optimisation
- Plan and oversee the installation, movement, and optimisation of gaming and amusement machines across the Punch estate.
- Ensure the right machine mix and positioning to maximise return on investment.
- Collaborate with suppliers, Operations Managers, and the central Gaming team to deliver performance improvements.
- Monitor performance data, identifying trends and recommending strategic interventions.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong, trusted relationships with Publicans, Operations Managers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Hold structured and effective meetings, share updates, and agree actions.
- Ensure minutes and action plans are distributed promptly and followed up effectively.
- Represent the Gaming function in regional meetings and business reviews.
- Regulatory & Compliance
- Ensure all gaming and amusement machines operate within current Gambling Commission regulations and company policies.
- Conduct regular site audits and address any compliance or operational issues identified.
- Provide guidance and training to Publicans and Operations Managers on responsible gaming and compliance best practices.
- Maintain accurate records of compliance checks and actions.
- Cost Efficiency
- Monitor operating costs and drive efficiencies across the region.
- Ensure all supplier activity delivers best value and aligns with Punch’s commercial objectives.
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes for the gaming estate.
Experience And Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the machines and gaming environment, ideally within the hospitality or pub sector.
- Demonstrable understanding of pub operations and the commercial pressures faced by Publicans.
- Proven experience in managing regional performance and influencing operational outcomes.
- Strong negotiating skills, with a proven ability to influence suppliers and stakeholders to achieve optimal commercial outcomes.
- Strong Microsoft Excel knowledge, with the ability to analyse performance data and present findings clearly.
- Confident in holding effective meetings and producing clear, professional minutes.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across the region (with overnight stays as required).
- A working understanding of the Innfinite System would be advantageous.
