We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Credit Assistant to provide a 5-star support service for our Publicans and key stakeholders within the Business. The successful candidate will be responsible for a portfolio of accounts ensuring timely collection of rent and drink sales, working closely with our Publicans and Operations teams to control and reduce all outstanding monies. This role is crucial in supporting the overall financial health of the organisation and requires a keen eye for detail as well as strong analytical skills. This role is part time, 3 days per week, 21 hours.
Responsibilities:
- Managing Publican Accounts to ensure timely and accurate collection of all outstanding monies.
- Proactively manage daily held beer orders to ensure paid & released within deadlines.
- Negotiate and manage re-payment arrangements for Publicans that are unable to maintain standard payment terms.
- Maintain strong working relationships with Operational Managers (OMs) and Operations Directors (ODs) providing regular updates through telephone, email and face to face contact re Publican Accounts.
- Attending periodic reviews to discuss aligned portfolio.
- Perform data entry tasks accurately to maintain up-to-date financial records.
- Utilise accounting software to track payments and generate reports on outstanding invoices.
- Communicate effectively with clients via phone, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette to resolve payment issues.
- Implement and maintain effective credit control procedures to minimise bad debts.
- Assist with other ad hoc duties as requested by the Credit Management Team.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in accounts payable or credit control is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data effectively.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on professional phone etiquette.
- Experience in financial services, credit control or account management is advantageous but not essential.
- A detail-oriented approach with strong organisational skills to manage multiple accounts effectively.
- Strong Communication and Influencing Skills - Ability to build commercial relationships with internal and external customers.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines in a busy environment.
- GCSE (or equivalent) grade 4 or above in English and Maths.
