Pūmanawa Early Learning Centre – Papa Hou is seeking an experienced and passionate Assistant Manager to support our centre manager in leading a high-quality early learning environment where tamariki can learn, grow and thrive. As part of The Kind Foundation, we are committed to delivering inclusive, child‑centred education guided by Te Whāriki and strong relationships with whānau and community.

This leadership position combines pedagogical leadership, team development and operational oversight. Working alongside the centre manager, you will support teaching excellence, mentor and develop kaiako, build strong relationships with children and whānau, and help create a positive, collaborative culture across the centre. You will also contribute to centre operations, staffing, internal evaluation, regulatory compliance and health and safety, while championing culturally responsive practice and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

We are looking for a qualified and registered ECE teacher with leadership experience, a strong understanding of Te Whāriki and the New Zealand early childhood sector, and excellent communication and relationship‑building skills. You will be a collaborative leader who is passionate about supporting others to grow and creating exceptional learning environments for tamariki.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must hold a Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Current New Zealand Teacher Registration
  • A current Practising Certificate
