Location: Derby, Derbyshire & The East Midlands
Contract type: full time
Hourly rate: ÂŁ16 to ÂŁ20 per hour, paid weekly
We are currently looking to recruit several Enhanced DBS Chefs and Cooks in and around Derby, Derbyshire & the East Midlands. You will work mainly in care homes and retirement villages, but we also supply to other hospitality and catering sectors including schools, nurseries, restaurants, hotels and many more.
Both full time and part time positions are available, and you may be required to support with sickness, short‑term and long‑term cover.
PLEASE NOTE: To work in this environment you must have an enhanced DBS covering adult workforce within the last 12 months or be on the update service. If you don\’t have a DBS, you must be willing to go through all required checks with us to obtain one (cost included).

Main Duties
- Work as part of a team
- Put away stock and deliveries
- Food orders, depending on the role you are placed into (e.g., head chef / chef manager)
- Preparation of food including a variety of diets (texture diets, blended meals, modified meals)
- Catering for dietary needs under the IDDSI framework
- Prep/tidy kitchen areas including pot washing
- Adhere to all relevant health and safety requirements
- Work solo or with a small team, depending on the home
- Cook nutritious food within requirements
- Potential for pot washing and supporting a kitchen assistant
- Enforce a “clean as you go” policy at all times
- Possibly serve food and/or operate a till
Requirements And Skills
- Previous experience as a chef working within care homes and nursing homes
- Experience with the IDDSI framework to prepare and cook texture diets
- Flexibility in shift patterns, including weekends
- Great communication and teamwork skills
- Level 2 food hygiene certificate dated within the last 3 years (ideal but not essential; training provided)
- Food allergens certificate
- Level 2 Health and Safety Certificate (ideal but not essential; training provided)
- Passion for food
- Ability to work under pressure
- Due to certain locations a full UK driving licence is required, along with access to a vehicle
- An enhanced DBS (essential – as mentioned above)
Working Hours
You can choose your working rota each week; the hours will vary from site to site and may result in more or less work depending on your flexibility.
The working environment
Because we cover a variety of sites, your working environment will change from site to site. We will place you in the most comfortable environments for you, supplying to contract catering sites, schools, prisons, care homes, hotels, and events, etc.
