Main Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Platform Engineer to join our well established but growing infrastructure team. This role will focus on delivering and managing infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions to support private cloud-based platforms, including Kubernetes clusters and High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments. The engineer will also support integration with hybrid and public cloud services to ensure robust, scalable, and efficient platform operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain platform offerings such as Kubernetes, server build automation and High-Performance Computing.
- Build and manage infrastructure using IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Helm.
- Develop and maintain scalable and secure platform architectures for containerized, distributed, and high‑performance applications.
- Ensure consistent automation, provisioning, and configuration management across environments.
- Collaborate with DevOps, application, and research teams to support platform enablement and project delivery.
- Integrate on-premises infrastructure with hybrid/public cloud environments (e.g., Azure, AWS) to extend or federate compute resources.
- Monitor, tune, and troubleshoot platform performance and availability.
- Manage system upgrades, patching, backup, and disaster recovery for key infrastructure components.
- Maintain compliance with security and governance standards.
- Document systems architecture, runbooks, and configuration as part of a knowledge‑sharing culture.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Infrastructure Platform Engineering.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or a related field.
- Solid understanding of Linux system administration, virtualization, and container technologies.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and integrating IaC workflows with tools like GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
- Hands‑on experience deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters (e.g., VKS [Tanzu], EKS Anywhere, Rancher, OpenShift, etc).
- VMware automation experience (e.g., vRealize or Aria Automation).
- Strong understanding of automation tooling and programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, Go, Ansible.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, storage management and performance tuning.

Reporting Structure
The engineer will report to the Platform Architect and will join a team of six other engineers who work in a collaborative team covering the Storage, Linux and Virtualisation towers.
