Job Title: Locum Consultant Histopathologist
Grade: Consultant
Location: Birmingham, West Midlands
Contract: 12-months fixed-term, with CESR support
Rate: £105,504 to £139,000 a year pro rata per annum

We are seeking a Locum Consultant Histopathologist to join a large NHS Trust in Birmingham on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract. The successful applicant will provide advice on the diagnosis, staging, and prognosis of patients suffering from disease, reporting and interpreting specimens submitted to the department in line with RCPath guidelines. You will work with relevant clinical teams in the provision of comprehensive Histopathology services to the users, including advice regarding appropriate specimen collection and investigations, interpretation of reports, and the preparation of policies, procedures, and guidelines. Additionally, you will answer phone calls to and from clinical colleagues, if required. CESR support can be offered to applicants wanting to pursue this pathway to GMC-specialist registration.

Qualifications and Experiences

  • Medical degree and valid medical license.
  • FRCPath or equivalent.
  • Applicants must have GMC registration or be eligible to join the register within 6-months.
  • Applicants for the substantive position must have GMC specialist registration or be eligible to join the specialist register within 6-months.
  • Proven experience as a Histopathology Consultant.
  • Strong diagnostic skills and proficiency in medicine procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
