We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Adult Psychiatry to join our esteemed client’s inpatient and community mental health team (CMHT) in Altrincham, Cheshire. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatrist to contribute to the delivery of high-quality mental health services for adults. This vacancy is available on a locum basis for the successful candidate to start immediately on a short-term contract. This vacancy offers competitive rates.

What will your responsibilities be?

You lead psychiatric care across inpatient and community settings, conducting assessments, diagnosing, and developing treatment plans under the Mental Health Act. As an Approved Clinician with Section 12 approval, you oversee care under the CPA, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and support junior staff. You also drive service development, clinical governance, and engage families and agencies to ensure holistic, person-centred care.

Qualifications and Experiences:

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry (or within 6 months of CCT)
  • Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status – essential
  • Experience working in inpatient and community mental health settings
  • Strong leadership, communication, and clinical decision-making skills
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and clinical governance
